Illinois Food Safety Regulations

illinois state flagFood Safety Manager on duty at all times and Food Handlers must take an ANSI approved course.

 

Food Manager Certification

Required. Minimum of 8 hours of Food Manager training is required. All training must be approved by the Illinois Department of Health.

 

Food Handler Certification

Required. Food Handlers must obtain food card within 30 days of employment.

 

Cost

Food Handler training should not exceed $15.

 

Certification Renewal

Food Manager – 5 years; Food Handler – 3 years.

 

Approved Courses

Prometric, ServSafe, National Registry of Food Safety Professionals (NRFSP), and 360 Training

 

Approved Options

Classroom, Online, or Pearson Testing Centers. Please check your local health department for the most up to date information.

 

Special Notes and Exceptions

Proof of training must be available on premises for Health Department Inspection
