San Diego County Food Handlers Requirements

All employees in food service establishments who handle food must obtain a food handler card from authorized training programs or from the San Diego County food handler test. The cost for a food handler card is $3 and is valid for three years. If you lose your card, you must contact the training school at which you obtained your original card and purchase a replacement. Certified Food Manager Requirement

The state of California also requires that each food service establishment have one owner, manager, or employee who is a certified food manager. Each certificate is only applicable to one location and the certification is valid for five years. A list of approved certification/training courses can be found here.
